[zym003] Songraphie - Toys

November brings the first cold, Songraphie lend us their “Toys” to make our room warmer with some childish memories. The duo from Moscow, formed by Ilya and Paul Bocharov, skilled and talented producers, has created something different from everything they ever pubblished for Otium, their former label. These “toys” are the result of a very particoular mix between lot of different styles and influences; clicks & cuts, hard beat, idmish melodies, broken-tek, ambient pads, 8bit synths, glitchy rhythm and much more. During these nine tracks the word “eclectic” is explained very well. Little jewels perfectly assembled that will remain imprinted in your memory; “The Cinnamon doll” with a contagious melody and bouncing rythms, “Tin Tell-tale On A Wooden Gee-Gee” with clicks & cuts bumped by 4/4 deep kicks, “The Clumsy Elephant” with its slow growing up of crunchy beats and soft pads, “My Baby Mouse In Space Flight” uptempo broken beat under a symphony of acid synths, “A Little Battle Of Bear Cubs” brings you into a darker mood, the 8bit Dino’s saga and the ironic end of “Saucers Race” and “The Author Wants To Sing Too” will make you feel the joyful atmoshpere that flutters all over. Ilya and Paul are the puppeteers of this wonderful toys theatre made of glitchs, heavy compressed beats, low frequencies, and an incredible quantity of talent. Take them seriously.

[one022] if:then:goto - another syntax error

'Another Syntax Error' qualifies simply as good song writing. Nothing tech, nothing too fancy - just good production, soulful vocals, inspiration, and catchy choruses. A mixture of brit-indie, guitar, and electronic music taken down his own path.

Finding Paul Benham's music was like stumbling across a favorite band I had somehow missed. Then I found out it was only one person, an avid songwriter with a prolific output that would be admired by many musicians.

To top it off and spin things up, 'ASR' is closed out with 3 remixes from favorite One artists - including Emil Klotzsch, Bad Loop and Recue.

The artwork for this release is presented with the DIY intent to leave some of the actual process and final design to you. With rough guidelines for cutouts (recommended to be printed on light card stock) and printable stickers.

There are a few images included in the download to help give you an idea of where to start. Enjoy yourself, be creative, have fun. You can't go wrong.

[YkYk002] Cocoawildboars - Paella Cocoa

The man behind this strange moniker doesn’t seem to be too eager to unveil is real identity or mission to his audience. And the four tracks of his release on Yuki Yaki – insignificantly named Track 1 to Track 4 – are not telling too many literal stories either. But anyway, is not music itself the best and most unpretentious mean of passing information? Cocoawildboars encode and encrypt their message pretty meticulously – and it seems to directly aim at the dance instincts. Crispy breakbeats, closely reaching after the nervous fidget feel of breakcore rhythms take the rule over the entire quartet of tracks, as if they liked to drive the listener into some state of lunacy and anticipate the chilled sub-zero atmosphere of the forthcoming winter at the same time. The rhythmic minimalism is flanked by some cranked melody crumbs and awkward bleep outbursts but it is definitely the beats that keep it going. Some neat ear-candy for the rough-at-heart.
