Karaoke Mouse - Shanghai Reggae EP is out now! Including remixes by most interesting electronic musicians from Czech republic – abstract hip-hop producer DJ Side, clicks`n`cuts musician Michal Marianek and freetekno underground freak Watesino.
Christian Quast sets us back in time when Techno was just about to emerge from the dark industries of Motor City. 'Alte Schule' can be seen as an update of the last 10-15 years, an update with new methods of production, with better quality due to the immense digital capabilities of our age but with no change in the philosophy - the philosophy of Techno.
Isn't it just too abstract to enjoy sounds that are completely non-organic, pressed into a fitting and mechanical structure and making everybody move? When thinking about it, we shall remember that these kind of music is no older than 50 years at the most. It was the german band Kraftwerk which made these sounds popular, because they used popsong-structures in most of their works. Today we love to enjoy piano music with glitches and ultrafrequent sinetones, just drumorientated techno and music that sounds like a complete error of its own (Autechre!?).
What is this gonna lead to?
«test tube proudly presents 'We are all visitors here', an ambient masterpiece by Michael Ferrell a.k.a. Elian, U.S.A. born and bred.
This work is inspired by mortality, in the literal sense of the word. Mortality and efemerity, because we are all visitors here on this planet, on this universe. We are just passing by, leaving a trail of destruction most of the time, but also of beautiful things that will last longer than us.
When we were talking about the artwork - which is by Seth White, an amateur photographer - Michael and I discussed many things about the greatness of this planet, its mountains and rivers, its gigantic mass and strenght, its destructive and creative power in everything, and how we are microscopically small, we humans and all living things that populate it. Seth's antarctica photo illustrates perfectly Michael's idea for this album. It encapsulates all that greatness, all that power. And on the other hand, our smallness, our efemerous life here. We're all just visitors for a limited amount of time.
This album also encapsulates those cosmic concepts in its long and drony pieces. Some with suggestive titles such as 'Being on the phone during a thunderstorm' and 'Origin or Profile'. But the title theme is the real keeper, in its more than 20 minutes of growing drone delicacy. Absolutely gorgeous.» - Pedro Leitão

Sometimes things are burning. It's very hard to avoid that fact. It can be a lot of things that goes on fire: houses, people, bushes... and of course also chocolate. First it's melting, dripping down the chimneys faster than St. Claus, and when it's even warmer it burst in flames... On this compilation we have a lot of different chocolate lovers (And non-lovers. Actually, it's presumably more non-lovers on this release, bur it's much more catchy to write about them as chocolate lovers, isn't it?). Liquid Stranger is taking us to the heart of Russia, Little Kid Human is opening his mysterious locker and Psilodump is giving us a glimpse of hell. We love it! Just as much as burning chocolate. ...and who doesn't loves the smell of burning chocolate!
