Some first reviews for Marcel Türkowsky 's Night Tapes

I am impressed...
This album totally gets me. Warm piano loops, a drony atmosphere harmonically simple and complex at the same time.
Marcel Türkowsky gradually folds in additional layers and hints of counterpoint, from organ-like chords, soft longing tones, and an assortment of fine tape noise. The deep basses, the concret fieldrecordings, the organ sounds are magnified emotionally through careful arrangement.
Each individual piece of sound on Türkowsky 's Night Tapes is carefully placed to maximize impact. The whole piece "De Dodu" consists of of mixture of different fieldrecordings, rain, moving devices in the wind suddenly
one guitar playing streetmusician stopping the cloud of organs, that appeared before hugging the noise of the rain.
It is completely overwhelming, never failing to produce any boring time for me.
Indeed a sense of the subconscious, its melodic progression and flow involves the listener more and more.
I feel that i get peacefully hypnotized. With knowing that the Night Tapes were made after dark i guess he must felt the same.
I see the the minimalist influences of Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Jim O`Rourke, Charlemagne Palestine on this epb and i am curious what this young soundartist and composer will show us in the future.
I would love to listen to it on vinyl though, i would play it all night.
Marcel Türkowsky also playes in Kinn with F.S. Blumm, (i found out recently). They made a very nice self titled record in 2003, i wonder what the new one will be, it is released just in this moment on audio dregs, check it out.
Well I love the Night Tapes

Nothing new here, as several so-called American Minimalists have been down this path before, from Terry Riley to Alvin Lucier, not to mention contemporaries of O´Rourke, like JLIAT (and his endless organ drones; see Hilbert's Hotel). Marcel Türkowsky 's pieces are not static, they keep on progressing, become playful at moments with the accompaniment of fieldrecorgins, which is enough to keep hold of the listener's attention, and one must admit that, even though this is hardly more than an exercise, it is very gracefully and convincingly carried out. i enjoy it a lot and truly recommend these Night Tapes to all the music fans out there.
Well.. we at GRHK hope you like this first release from Bardo, this is pure minimal. Listen it as his presentation card . He is really a very rare person... good luck trying to understand him...
'In the landscape of spring, there is neither better nor worse. The flowering branches grow naturally, some long, some short.'' -Zen saying, It is as winter collapses that we release this magnificient compilation, somewhat of a soundtrack for the rejuvenation of the comatose vegetation, soaked in melting snow, stretching for the heat we all so direly waited for in our 4 months of deep sleep. Compiling vairous forms of ambient music, from academic to organic, to loopy, and more, all these wonderfull experiments in texture sweep by you like a soft whisper. It features great artists from across the netlabel scene and more; Huw Roberts (serein owner), Herzog (serein), Muhr (miasmah, serein), Direwires (apegenine, moodgadget), Lum (filament recordings owner), Fah (ronin collective, yomi records), Valzi (backtrack owner), Shiftless (camomille, apegenine), Transient (noisy vagabond owner, monotonik), Pirouette, Emmanuel Errante (apegenine, netsock fest owner) and Troupe(backtrack, ronin collective). We are very happy to release a compilation with such difference and individuality between talented artists and their music, but also with such a coesive, overall homogeneity that we feel like it's all meant to be and we are spectators of an evolving entity.
For his first release on Plex, .at/on invites us to a trip into arid lands of dark and extinct night in interstellar space. Close your eyes and listen. Infinite space, captivating textures, subtles rhythmics. With spa_e we begin the tour in outer space before being wake up by t_t, the face in a big container of pure ether. Desert planet where a dying antique computer song resonate. Then we follow our walk with v_ga that brings a shiny atmosphere where we find some calm. Voices arise. Persistences of a vanished era, diffused souvenirs slip of an end of life hard drive.
Dorothy's Magic Bag is giving us a beautiful, yet sinister gift this time; a dance mosaic. You never heard of dance mosaic before? You're not the only one. We on Candy Mind had not heard about it before Dorothy's Magic Bag brought one home comming back from a trip to Mozambique. There, a secret tribe of voodoo-dancers taught him the even more secret art of... dansmosaik. Today mosaic do not have any chance, but in the future, everyone will have mosaic when they dance.
