Seriously, what else is there to say about Finnish old-school Amiga demo scene legend Aleksi Eeben, aka Heatbeat? The spectacularly tonally different stylings of Eeben are showcased in this album for Monotonik, 'Avaruusmies kaukana kotoa', aka 'Spaceman Far Away from Home'. An early highlight is the wonderfully busy skank of 'Spaceman's Small Step', or 'Avaruusmiehen pieni askela', and we end with a couple of bonus tracks, with 'Traveller' a particular highlight, all sinuous melodies that just range in the oddest, wonderfullest ways.
It seems as though there isn't much room left for dance music in the current avant-obsessed and cut-throat world of experimental electronic music, but New Jersey resident Albert Casais is keeping the party going with his funk-infused Omnid project. Using an array of cutting edge software and his trusty Nord Lead, Casais creates a lyrical, but cold and robotic journey through abstraction, culminating in the slippery rhythms of 'milikk'--chunked trash beats cemented by a dizzying lead, endlessly looped into the void. But Omnid doesn't tarry long in this pulsating universe, and soon the listener is left to sift through the ashes during the fragmented refuse of 'Exxon Mobil'.
Maestro FM brings you an EP in a mnml, but yet in a dancefloor friendly fashion. Groove is in the air and on the dancefloor. Nobody Knows The Trouble I Cause - a great example that mnml doesn't necessary has to be glitchy. On the contrary, when the melody hits you around middle of the track you'll say "Gimme more, please!". Purple Eyes (The Dub) - this track is slow driving, but still grooving part of the EP. Dubby elements put this one in a category of "perfect for after parties" or "chilling at home". Saved By The Bell - soundtrack for a lazy sunday... If Purple Eyes is soundtrack for chilling then this track is an overture to a great night out. We at Diggarama suggest you to listen to it during Saturday night fever. The main theme will launch you far far away...

After the very successful release of flu's "no flu do mondo", Musicartistry Recordings received a lot of demos especially from Brazil. From this material we selected two bands to be published on this release: Q'Saliva hailing from Sao Paulo and Chico Correa with his Electronic Band. While Q'Saliva show us what the spirit of brazillian music is all about, Chico Correa and his band soothe our ears with their unique blend of brazillian folk-songs mixed with electronic influences. Last but not least the EP features music by the now well-known Flu from Rio de Janiero and Zula System.
Isuzu Kochiwa (founder of japanese post noise group "Amok") brings us this album of short experimental pieces, a homage to 18 different painters which all tracks are named after. Isuzu uses his computer, voice, samples and different acoustic elements. creating microsounds, layered scapes and total psychedelia. its nice listening to how some of your favorite painters sound like inside Kochiwa's brain. Among the artists who combine the aesthetics and sound sculpting of avant-garde with the posse and power of bass-driven urban music D'incise is clearly one of the most interesting and solids of them all and his latest release on Zymogen is only an example of that. "Insectes, Attente et Pixels" got to be one of the best produced albums I have heard in a while, every sound seems carefully constructed and the way the percussive structures are built, leaves the listener absolutely dazzled and delighted. The first track "Elle Dort" is a mellow and epic opener, with a laid back mood to it that clashes with an intricate progression of broken percussions that maintain a level of tension through the entire track. This album have some hyper, convoluted and frantic peaks on "Contemplatif et pixellisé" and "On peut pas tout cacher avec le printemps": both ecstasies of broken sounds and blazing self-constraining shapes, that grow into enormous bursts of chaotic energy. Something that I truly love abut D'incise, is that he has some kind of a hardcore attitude, very strong willed and filled with anger and rage that is very present on "Spectacle" whose heavy rhythm evokes the power and will of a military march. Even though I don't speak French and don't understand what the vocal sample from the beginning says, it's not hard to understand that they are upset about something that has to do with the unfair and miss proportioned economical situation the world lives today. This very powerful and dark record finds a balance with slower and awkwardly built tracks such as "Anticipation D'un Voyage"(probably my favorite tracks of the whole record), "Traumatisme Enfantin" and finally "Insectes diurnes et nocturnes". On those pieces D'incise experiment with unsetting speeds and weird pitching that grow into some really beautiful shapes and motions. "Insectes, Attente et Pixels" is an exceptional record that a lot of people could clearly enjoy: from the IDM-heads to people more interested in avant garde experimentation. David Velez
