Blipfestival ongoing, 8bitpeople compilation, Lazy Sunday tomorrow

You might have forgotten (although we spammed quite a bit about it) about the Blipfestival. A festival dedicated to the chiptune-scene, and featuring artists we are familiar with, all in one place. Virt is one of them, and he posted a rundown of last day's events on his site.

Update: 8bit people and The Tank are going to release an unique compilation of works by major chiptune artists, preview available on their site! Names such as 4mat, x|k, Vim, Jeroen "WAVE" Tel, YMCK, Aonami, Hally (of vorc.org) Tugboat, Receptors, Virt, Goto80 etc...)

Also don't forget the laziest sunday ever is gonna happen tomorrow. Free entrance for everyone! And you can listen to it while in your pajamas!

[MA024] Alpha Human - Hemisphere Ep

Hemisphere is Alpha Human´s first full-length recording. Starting off with the smooth opener "hemisphere" he takes us on a musical journey into his own world of sound. "In the Mood" shows his house-music influences while "Alias" is full of lounge-references. Finally, "Arrival in Paradise" is not only the end of this journey but also just what it´s name suggests.

[MA023] Zengineers - Asymmetricality Lp

This album dares you to try anyway. Asymmetricality is a collection of tracks ranging from midtempo breakbeats to old-school jungle breaks, blended with classic jazz influences and obscure anime quotes. Just like that special something that sets breakbeats apart from regular electronic drums, your encounter with this album might not be as soothing and convenient as what you are used to hear in your local clubs, but it will sure become a rewarding experience as soon as you look beyond the surface. Plus it kicks ass. 'Nuff said.

[tube058] on_14 - Forest

«on_14 is the new encarnation of japanese Aogu Yoshida, the man who brought us (as AO) 'Endlessly, Sweetly and Slightly', a beautiful two-piece work for guitar drones. Aogu is also the man behind the excellent ON-LI Netlabel (worthy of a visit), where he has more than a couple of releases. So, what has changed between AO and on_14, musically? Very little, actually. The trademark guitar drones are present, the sad and meditative imagery is also present. Even half of the tracks are close to the 10 minute mark. But there's also something new.
'Forest' compiles three new studio recordings and a live one, called 'Taste'. I don't know were or why Aogu recorded this live track and chose to include it here. But, interesting enough, it fits perfectly. 'Taste (live)' and 'After Summer' - the opening and closing pieces of this new EP - are very similar in form and much in the same line structurally as the previous test tube release: long and wavy drones ondulating in the cosmos, freely, in solitude. But there's also a slight difference, because this time Aogu didn't let them loose enough to reach distortion levels.
With the 'Forest' pieces, we also find resemblances to 'Endlessly, Sweetly and Slightly', not structurally but musically: The rough edges of the drones and the 'on the red' distortion pedal effects are pretty much the same. But the similarities end here. Aogu added another layer to the drone mass, a discrete drum beat and chimes. This percussion layer is present in part one and two of 'Forest' at all times, 'though it gets muffled up here and then by the sharp drones. But it's an interesting addition, as it draws the listener away from the noise pool... and back again, repeatedly. And then it comes 'After Summer', which is the perfect ending for this awesome work.» - Pedro Leitão

Mazedude releases "Electric Sushi" on Mephtik

sub219 - "Electric Sushi" by Mazedude

Our friend Mazedude provides us with this unique electronic piece, which features a prominent Eastern influence. Keep in mind that this piece was created in Impulse Tracker.

While Mazedude has mainly made a name for himself in the video game remixing community (see OCremix or VGmix), we are happy to see him return to his roots in the tracker scene. He started tracking in the mid 1990s, and some may remember his tracker group, Ignition Music. He has since obtained a degree in composition, and works hard writing music for independent projects, acting, and doing motion capture work for the film and gaming industries. A jack of all trades, Mazedude is worth your attention. Please visit his site for more music and other hiijinx (www.mazedude.com). Enjoy!

[RAR007]Jak-'Dub Elements'-EP

This release is a very special one, because it is not only significant to the evolution and revolution of our vision here at Random Access, but also points out what special talent we have. It is autumn again and it is time to pull out the big guns. Always seaching low and high and in every corner of the globe we found a very talented producer from Cagliari, Italy that goes by the name of Jak. He got our attention when we happen to stumble accross his latest offering on French netlabel HaPpy_MekAnism entitled "The Walk In Moon EP." Our release, which is entitled Dub Elements is very inspiring, comprehensive, and totally unique to say the least and is a sort of continuation of the deep, raw, minimal dub funk we heard before and fell in love with. Jak's sound is perfect for the season as we walk out and feel that nip in the air, see the leaves changing colors, and see that first sign that winter is right around the corner as we look out the corner of our eye and spot that snow flake or two floating by. Simply put, this release is magnificent; fusing together back drop dark synth melodies with raw techno funk bass lines and percussion. Enjoy!!!
