Its been a while since the last release from Yard. Last time we got a treat in the form of some classic styled retro techno - kind of like the missing link between early 90's techno and modern IDM. And this time we have more of the same classic styling.
This four track ep is made up of what essentially could have been heard at any rave or techno club in the early 90s. Yard has perfected the replication of the style of the bygone era, and created essentially a classic tribute to this time.
Classic sounds such as the 'hoover' (from the Roland Alpha Juno 2) are enhanced and recreated (AJ Motors), a great old TB303 bassline can be heard in the last track 'slowly never'.
Its true that this style of music might not match many of Kahvi listeners tastes, but open your mind, listen and learn some musical history.
After long and hard work and several busted eardrums, Sonic Dissent proudly presents the first four-track EP by this new hardcore netlabel: Label founders Gary and Mark fearlessly deliver three pounding melodic tracks, and one dark industrial cut - guaranteed to violate speakers worldwide.
Bas van Huizen is a sound and visual artist (video/animation) from Nijmegen the Netherlands. You may know him from his "Ontgalman"-release on test tube or from his physical releases on Etherkreet records. A label focusing on electroacoustic and improvised music, which he runs together with Ezra Jacobs.
"Wegwerpwee" contains 8 tracks. According to Bas most of the material is older than "Ontgalman", but he mixed and remastered everything for this release. And it is a wonderful piece of electroacoustic-experimental-ambient-music. "Wegwerpwee" has a rough, down-to-earth, handmade touch. Very drony, with background-noises, hisses, crackles, melody layers, all mixed and set together very carefully and subtly.
Please also have a listen to "Ontgalman" at test tube and his output on Etherkreet. And to maximise your pleasure: Make sure to listen with headphones.
