Why is making arts a nonlinear process? Is it really necessary to understand how things work on the scales of soundwaves, or is the idea as such the only thing that counts? Or to put it another way: why and in what way does technology influence and affect our creativity?
Stmnet004 - V.A. Interconnect Released May.1 2006 After establishing our direction as a label with the strategic sounds series, we decided to focus on abstraction and minimalism for our future releases. Featuring artists from Canada, Germany, Greece & Japan, Interconnect is our most diverse project to date. Included is a bizarre & unique electro production by Deemah, a second minimal track by Encrypted, two skillfully produced songs from our friend's Tatsu & Zucchini @ Bumpfoot in Japan, a creative re-edit of Andrew Duke's "Carnival" by Athens based artist Stefanos Kourtis, a stripped down, funky, minimal track from Berlin's Kujoma, a glitchy tech house song by toronto's jamie kidd, and an abstract production from Halifax based Stratagem founder Adaptive. Cheers!
New release on enough is a collaboration between K.M. Krebs and Mystified. Both long runners in the netlabel scene doing dark ambient sound scapes, their colaboration "Reclaiming The Darkness" involved a sample exchange-- across the Pacific Ocean, unique and home-crafted sounds travelled as tiny bits, to be retrieved at other shores. Several pieces were written by each artist as "solo" pieces, and one piece, "Blinded", was written by simply agreeing on a track length, and mixing two signals, one from each artist, without preview. The result is a strange and enjoyable journey that emphasizes the strengths of both artists!
Nicos opens this release with a true mind piece, called Ellos Flotan. I don’t know what the hell the title means, but I do know that it builds and builds and builds, until you close your eyes to get carried away to higher places. Let your mind be free. Bardo delivers again. Pa Javi is überfunky, with the weird sounds we’re used to receive from this artist. Peak time! Neurus Meyer takes this release to a deeper level. When you start listening to it you may think ‘OK, let’s do this really calm en really minimal’, but then there’s that voice… Don’t ignore it, assimilate it. Aha, the first track with a name I can understand! Alone… Well, what can I say… You won’t be alone on the dancefloor when this one is played. Headbang stuff, with an old school touch. This track is made by our respected friends Zap and Mute from ouzomusic.com F.dan, my man! If you start your track with lyrics from Natural Born Killers, you can’t do anything wrong anymore. This is the shortest track of the release, but it sure has enough power to kill you. Improovenzas, to close, reminds me of the good old raving days. Aciiiiiid? Yes please. Brand new online .ep by this well know London based artist, head of the excellent Authorised Version label. "Latitude" - freedom from normal restraints in conduct; scope for freedom of e.g. action or thought; freedom from restriction. A linear progression through processed field recordings, sinewaves, amplified metal objects, white noise and feedback. Composed and recorded late 2005, final mix/edit early 2006 by Phil Julian.
Hot on the heels of their debut EP at Serein, 'Cooperative Thread', it is time again to welcome 1000 Hours of Staring to the Serein catalogue. The lineup this time includes David Daranjo and Mike Kazantsis working alongside Mike Ramsey. This change in ranks marks also a distinct change in sound for the group, leaving behind the gentle melodies of 'Cooperative Thread' in favour of densely layered sound. Thick with the tones of guitars, keyboards and whispers of vocal samples and field recordings, 'The Seagull' is a composition of epic proportions. Listening to the piece, I can't help but recall memories of bands such as Ash Ra Tempel and Tangerine Dream, and that's no bad thing. With its distant guitar drones and modulating, pulsing soundscapes, each minute drags you deeper into the sleepy world where 1000 Hours of Staring make their home. This is a piece of music to explore, a fairy-tale story revealing new adventures wich each listen. This is one for life's daydreamers. Beautiful artwork from Alanna Gladstone compliments once more.
Organized chaos developed in five tracks with noise as the definitive instrument, an endlessly adaptable element of cultural subversion.
Noerror is a project born in early 2000. Its first purpose was to relate some of the most famous demoscene music releases, it extended to all the active demoscene netlabels and finally all the netlabels, no disctinction. Just talent and beautiful music is now the word.
