NEF119 - Zebrabook - Satelle

“Satelle is the place beyond the dreams, where the darkness gathers.” With a delicate minimalist aesthetic, Jon Bushaway AKA Zebrabook has composed a meditative chant of an ambient album with “Satelle”. Picking some of the finest pieces from his vast catalogue of work spanning hundreds of tracks and countless side projects, including collaborations with spoken word artists, and instrumental off-shoots, Zebrabook’s “Satelle” brings a blurry audio polaroid of a rich-yet-sleepy cinematic dreamworld to our ears. Please enjoy!

ca351 - The Rick Jensen Quartet - Night Shelter

Photobucket Night Shelter was the last recording I made before leaving New Zealand, it was also the first (and so far only) studio recording by The Rick Jensen Ensemble. It was recorded in early 2006 at James Gilberd's Photospace Gallery by Blair Wootton with his portable studio set up. It is also the last recording of mine from New Zealand to have never been released before. The band at the time had never played as a quartet before, James had been playing drums for me for a year or two, Sam had been playing bass on and off with the Trio for a couple of years, he had been in Korea for a year prior to this which is When Nigel had joined in playing bass and keyboards. The studio approach resulted in a very different sound to what we would normally do, shorter pieces, more jazzy and more room to try unusual things. I do think its still a good album, and marks a brginning and end in the history of this group. Rick Jensen: Alto Sax, Clarinet, Recorder Sam Stephens: Bass, Hammond Nigel Patterson: Hammond, Recorder, Bass James Gilberd: Drums, Percussion

ca352 - Kerim Safa - Subdermal

Photobucket We use words to get in contact with people to explain what we think. But thoughts are abstract. We narrow them by using daily language to make everyone understand. If we were able to use pure thoughts (not words) to communicate, there would be a vague and chaotic communication process from the viewpoint of the "daily language user". But on the other hand, there would have been a wider and sincere communication experience for the two sides of this uncommon conversation. Kerim Safa is an audio/visual artist from Istanbul, Turkey. He was born in Izmir on 1985 and after 4 years of fine arts faculty (on printing design) experience in his hometown, he moved to Istanbul. In 2007, he started studying music at Istanbul Bilgi University with full scholarship. After playing and recording with some bands, he decided to release his own material as an ep. He is still living, playing and continiuing his education in Istanbul.

[insubcdr09] KARST Samuel D

abstral compost: voice
d'incise / luc mueller / cyril bondi:
étendages à linge, objects, percussions, etc

:freak poetry & free improv:

KARST is a free improvisation and (sound) poerty quartet; intermingling objects and instruments, creating an architecture of percussions, squeaks, frictions, unreal impulses, instinctive mathematic sounds in constant reorganization.
KARST is a landscape; carved by corrosion, with sharp, underground cavities where thousands of roads offer themselves to the adventurous listener.

[sfp11] bad loop - Fragments

Bad Loop is finnish artist Petteri Karjalainen, who's been making music since the early 90's. During all these years, he have established his very own, recognizable style where melodies collide with lush pads in subtle ways, driven by the layered rhythms, all these blended together form the Bad Loop sound. And close to five years have passed since the last release "Luo", which appeared on the One netlabel.

At the time being, the focus was on the idm flavored melodic downtempo material, while the new EP titled "Fragments" takes a new, more edgy and slightly darker direction. Being a more beat oriented and occasionally even hectic in tempo, compiled from tracks originally designed for live performances. Developed and mangled further into a piece that captures the essential vibe of a Bad Loop gig.
